After the main storyline is completed in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the quest to capture all of the Paradox Pokémon begins! Iron Thorns is amongst this rare line of Pokémon from the future and has become popular for its resemblance to Tyranitar. There are over 100 new generation nine Pokémon in the Paldea Region, so searching for Iron Thorns can prove to be difficult. However, if you know where to look, you will be able to catch Iron Thorns in no time.

Unfortunately, Paradox Pokémon do not have evolutionary lines, and Iron Thorns is no exception. Though Iron Thorns might have a similar appearance to the generation two Armor Pokémon, Tyranitar, it is an entirely unique Pokémon. Unlike Tyranitar, Iron Thorns is a dual Rock and Electric-type. This renders it weak to Water, Grass, and Fighting-type moves and resistant to Flying-type moves.

Iron Thorns Stats: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Even from its base stats, Iron Thorns is an exceptionally strong Pokémon: 100 HP, 134 ATK, 110 DEF, 70 SP. ATK, 84 SP. DEF, and 72 SPD.

Additionally, its Quark Drive ability makes it especially powerful in battle. This increases the highest stat (other than HP) by 30% when the Pokémon is on Electric Terrain or if it is holding Booster Energy.

Like Iron Moth and Iron Valiant, trainers can only catch Iron Thorns in Pokémon Violet. Once the main storyline is completed, trainers will have access to the Great Crater of Paldea. You can encounter Iron Thorns in the cliff zones of Area Zero around Research Stations 1, 2 and 3 in this exclusive area.
